Holy Crap I Haven't Blogged Since 2006!!

I guess I didn't feel the need or want to blog until I stumbled across this interview.

So after hiding out for three years why did this compel me to post? Well... I lurve Steven Wright AND I don't get to watch late night tv much anymore since I generally get up around 5 am. But I caught Craig Ferguson the other night and was thoroughly entertained. I don't generally like late night talk shows. With the exceptions of The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. I honestly could care less about the lives of celebrities and whatever mundane crap they decide to talk about. But in the 2 times I have watched his show in the last 2 years Craig Ferguson really entertained me. He seems different than the others. So tell me, did i just happen to catch Craig on good nights, or is he different/more entertaining.

I know I will probably catch some hell here for not mentioning Conan but honestly I only like to watch Conan until the guests come on and then I turn it off.

So give me your opinions people... If I get a reply in my comments I might even post again!

New Wedding Date Set!

Some of you may or may not know that Neal and I were planning on getting married 7-7-07. The reception hall we thought we had booked ended up not being booked after all... So I started freaking out a little! We did some checking in the Bismarck area and found 2 places that were still available. But before we ended up booking that date (again) we found out that the Jehovah's Witness national convention was being held in Bismarck and there were NO hotel rooms available in the city! So it was actually a blessing in disguise that our original plans fell through. As of today we have a new date set 8-11-07. So mark your calendars!

Just a min ago I was working away while listening to the radio. Sarah McLachlin's "Building a Mystery" the acoustic version was on... All of a sudden I got a headache in the back of my head and I realized it was the song! She is continually singing the same irritating, headache inducing note! I had to shut the radio off before I went crazy! I used to really enjoy that song but I don't think I will ever be able to listen to it again.

You know how sometimes you just have one of those days where nothing goes right? Well that day is here! At least for me anyway... I woke up, got dressed and was walking out the door when I noticed I didn't have my keys. They weren't on our little key hanger thing, they weren't in my purse, they weren't in my coat or pants pocket from the night before. I decided they must be somewhere in the hell-pit Neal and call a room so I started to dig. They weren't in the hell-pit either! I decided to call Neal thinking perhaps he had moved them... He didn't answer his cell phone so I called him at work. Just as I got a hold of him I took another look at our key hanger thing and they were there, hiding behind HEATHER'S KEYS!

Now I am at work and things are not getting any better... One of my employees was sleeping on the job last night and was sent home. 2 of them decided to leave early and 2 others didn't show up at all... No phone call, no nothing. We have a project going on that has a very tight deadline and we only got 43 completed surveys last night. Normally we get 100. Oh yeah I was supposed to tape the news last night for our a Bismarck client and do you think that worked? Oh hell no. I programmed the VCR and it taped the 6:00 news but not the 10:00 and of course the info they needed was on the 10:00 news.

You know what I realized as I was typing this blog? It is MARCH 15th! BEWARE THE IDES OF MARCH! Dammit! I should have just stayed in bed today...

A few fun life updates!

Ok, I haven't posted much here lately, but there has been good reason for it... much has happened in the past couple of weeks!

First a foremost, Neal got a new job yesterday! Yeah! He is working for Take 2 video doing computer support for all of their stores. He started the job today!!! I am so happy he got this job and I think it is something he is really going to like! He gets to tinker with computers and video game consoles all day, really what could be better for Neal?

Secondly, we found a townhouse in Fargo! It is four blocks from our current apartment and I think the three of us are really gonna dig it! It has 3 bedrooms, two full baths, living rooms up and downstairs and an attached garage. I am excited to move in, but I am not looking forward to the packing part... Moving day is October 29 so if you happen to be in Fargo and LOVE to lift boxes we will gladly find some for you! :-)

Neal's sister Chris got married last weekend in Mandan. The wedding was outside in their parent's backyard. I was a little worried about what the weather was going to be like for an outdoor wedding on October 1st, but it was a beautiful 94 degree day! The ceremony was lovely and the reception was a blast! Lots of dancing and whiskey drinking(at least by me)! :-) Congrats to Chris and Doug!

Once again it has been a long time since I have posted. Bad Blogger, BAD! A lot has happened since my last posting! Many of you already know this but maybe there are a few of you that don't... Neal has moved to FARGO!! Yeah! It has only been 2 YEARS that we have been living in separate cities... He moved here last Wednesday, the 31st of August and has technically lived here for about 4 days. He got here and we turned around and went back to Bismarck over Labor day weekend for my birthday and his fantasy football draft. It was a very nice long weekend at home! It is a little weird going back now because Neal stays at his parent's and I stay at mine... At least that is how it worked last weekend. Not sure if that is how we will do it every time we go back but I am sure we will get it worked out.

My Birthday was lovely. We went out to dinner with my parent's, Neal's parents and some friends of my family. We went to the elks and had fabulous food and beverages! Then Schwartz, the Thune's and Jennifer Royse (thanks for coming all the way from NY Jennifer!) came down to the bar and joined us for after dinner drinks. We went off to the Peacock Alley after that with Tracy Fugere and her posse and ran in to all kinds of people! Twas a great night indeed! I hope everyone had as enjoyable a night as I did! I do have to mention that this is the last year of my 20's! Kinda weird. Hopefully it will be a great year!

Sunday drives are CRAP!

On Sunday my brother-in-law Dan called and said that the whole famdamily was going out to the lake for some fun in the sun. I thought to myself, "Bierwoman, you better get your ass outside and get some rays!" So I bid my fond friend Michelle Skaley adieu and took off for Lake Moses. I was driving along listening to Dane Cook's new comedy cd Retaliation (check it out, it's funny) when all of a sudden... WHAMMO! All cars are stopped. Lucky for me I was able to react in time and not rear-end anyone. We creeped along for about 20 min before we started moving again. In the end it looked like there was a terrible accident, but I heard later that luckily no one was hurt. Ok so I start cruising along again and get to Fergus Falls to fill gas.... (remember that it will tie into my story later) I get off the exit go around a curve and WHAMMO dead stop again. This time I think I was sitting there for around an hour. This time it was a bottleneck to get into a construction zone. I think the first jam may have caused the second... All those cars travelling together for such a long time. SUCK. Anyway we start moving again and I see a sign that says Evansville exit closed as of Aug 3rd. Of course the Evansville exit is the one I was supposed to take. I don't know my way around the back roads of western MN that well so I took the nearest exit and called my brother-in-law. He guided me to the lake and FINALLY I arrived at the lake. What was supposed to be a trip just over an hour ended up being a 3 hour drive! All I have to say is thank you Dane Cook you saved my sanity for the first two hours of my trip there... Without that comedy I am sure I would have torn all my hair out! I bet you think this story is over don't you, well not so fast... I hung out at the lake for a few hours, did some family bonding and whatnot. I went to my car and got ready to leave when I noticed a weird spill on the side of my car. I forgot to replace my gas cap and close the door over the gas cap so I had been leaking gas for at least half of my trip. OH JOY. What a damn day....

World Stupidity...

The 2005 World Stupidity awards were recently handed out in Montreal Canada! After looking at the results it seems we Americans have a good hold on being stupid! But at least our government was beaten this year for being the stupidest by..........CANADA!!! Yeah! To check out the full results click here. I must admit that I have watched a couple of episodes, but it just makes me angry even watching one of my first favorite bands whoring themselves out on TV to find a new lead singer. AHHH WEIRD... NEED YOU TONIGHT just came on the radio as I am typing this! It must be a sign that I am right! INXS is NOTHING without Michael Hutchence and they know it. If they do select a new lead singer and try to make a new album I hope it fails miserably. What a joke.

My good friend Schwartz pointed out that I haven't posted anything here in a while... Oops! I figured I better change that! Much has happened since my last post. Had a sucessful Anti-Reunion, Reunion. Thanks to everybody that came out to the river for some fun drinkin and bean bag game action! Sorry we didn't get to crown a champion, maybe we can do it again next year and get started before it decides to thunderstorm! I have pretty much sucked at poker lately... except the first place I took last week for one of our two games. I guess I really need to start really paying attention to the hands I play, not go into TILT so easily and maybe start reading up on better poker playing.

Neal had a job interview in Fargo last week! Everybody keep your fingers crossed that he gets a call back next week! Wouldn't it be great if we lived in the same city? We have been dating for nearly 5 years and two of them have been apart!

Well I am exhausted from posting so much to this site, so I better go take a nap... :-)

This morning our power went out around 5:45. I woke up when my fan turned off and in my groggy haze reset my clock and alarm. What I didn't realize is I set my clock for a.m. and my alarm for p.m.!!! So around 9 this morning Heather poked her head in my room and said, "Did you know the power went off this morning?" I was like, "Yeah my alarm just hasn't gone off yet..." She said "Well it's 9 and I just thought I would check..." I said, "SHIT!!" Needless to say, I am having a GREAT day today!

On Sunday Dan and I decided to kick the ol' soccer ball around for a while... I realized not only am I rediculously out of shape but my right leg muscles seem to have disappeared. I can't kick a ball for shit anymore. We are going to try and play once a week so maybe my leg will reappear. Let's just hope Dan gets his soccer field up and running soon so my right leg doesn't turn into 100% potato!

Bike walking with kidpurple

I called Dan yesterday to see if he wanted to go rollerblading... It was one of those rare 76 degree, no wind days in Fargo so I figured I better take advantage of it. He called me back and suggested we go biking instead and I agreed. I went down to the garage to get my bike... This was my first bike outing since last summer so the tires were flat. I own a Gary Fischer bike and you have to have a special adapter to fill the tires but luckily I bought one last year. I went back up to my apartment to get it and I couldn't find it in the Hell-Pit I call a closet. I really need to find that Scheels bag because it has my new bike seat, a water bottle attachment for my bike, a water bottle and the little tiny adapter to fill my tires. I tried to get a hold of Dan to tell him about my situation but he didn't have his phone with him... So I took off on foot, with my bike, to the gas station where we were meeting in hopes that he had an adapter. He said, "I don't have no fancy-schmancy Gary Fisher like you" in Dan speak that means, I don't have an adapter you crazy bitch, so we walked my bike back to my apartment and took off for Scheels to get ANOTHER adatpter. I picked up two they were only $1 each but before I purchased them I made sure to ask the bike shop dude if it would work with my particular bike. The dude said I was good to go! Whew! Finally we were going to go on a bike ride! I walked my bike (Dan slowly rode his) back to the gas station where we attempted to fill my tires. I tried to fill them, Dan tried to fill them and NOTHING. No air was getting in. Two other people came up to fill their tires and the pump didn't work for them either so we all went across the street to use a different air pump. The other people filled first and it worked like a charm. I attempted to fill my tires again and nothing... I handed it over to Dan and he didn't get any air either. We flipped my adapter around tried all the angles and got nothing but flat tires. I think we might have even broken the pump nozzle on the last try. OOps! Dan and I walked my bike back to my apartment and we parted ways for the evening. Hopefully Scribner will let me use his adapter like I did last year and I will actually get to ride my bike this summer.

Tipsy cup

This past weekend was Steve's 3rd Annual 40th Birthday party. I must say a good time was had by all. We played a lively game of tipsy cup and I must say the girls kicked some major butt! Heather, Leslie and I were on a team and cleaned up! We did get beat a few times, but overall I think we were the champs! Especially since we were at the party the longest! If you don't know how to play tipsy cup here are the rules... You get two teams of three people on either side of a table. You fill a PLASTIC* cup about 1/2 full of beer. *do not use a GLASS cup or you will have a broken glass mess all over the place. Everybody places their hands on the table and the referee says DRINK! The first people for each team down their beer and have to flip their cup over and make it land top-side down on the table. The first team of three to down their beers and flip their cups wins! It is a fun time! If you have a party in a garage or somewhere that you don't care if the entire floor gets full of beer try this game, it is a hoot! Heck it is an entire hootinanny (SP?)! Eybrows & Hair = Crying

I haven't had a hair cut/color in quite a while... I have been in Fargo for 2 years and still haven't gotten around to finding a stylist there. I am back in Bismarck enough to still go to the stylist I have been going to for years. Well I thought I better get my hair cut and colored while I am here (in Bismarck) since it has been so long. Sherri (my usual stylist) wasn't in at all this weekend so I just ran down to Regis in the mall. My hair really isn't that difficult to cut... Just trim the ends off and keep it long has been my motto for years. Well the lady I went to said my hair was so damaged that she had to cut it quite a bit! I thought that would be ok, it really needed to be cut. In the meantime my stylist waxed my eyebrows and colored my hair too... Well long story short I ended up crying when I got home. My hair is at LEAST 10 to 12 inches shorter and my eyebrows seem non-existent. Oh and she pretty much dyed my WHOLE FACE when she was dying my hair and didn't wash any of it off before sending me out the door. So I am a short-haired, no eyebrowed girl that looks like she had a run in with Jackson Pollock. Needless to say I scrubbed my face until the top three layers of skin peeled off. AH! I am sure it really isn't as bad as it seems but I am freaking out! So the next time you see me don't freak out, it is really me I just look like I had an extreme makeover gone bad. Beware getting a new hairstylist. Always give very strict instructions lest you want to go home and cry.

I suppose I should give my weekly poker update. I finished 3rd the first game, no points no money. I finished 2nd in the 2nd game a few points, a few dollars. I took a bad beat at the end of the 2nd game though... I had pocket 8's and a pair of 7's came down in the flop. I raised to double the big blind and Onree pushed all in... Being the stubborn girl that I am I called him. We flipped our cards and he had a pair of 3's. I thought YES, my eights will prevail again! But what card came up on the turn? A damn 3! And of course some garbage came on the river so Onree beat me! BAH! Silly card game!

Rhubarb and Dancing Feet!

As I mentioned earlier, I went to my sister's house this past weekend. My parents picked me up in their new Toyota mini-van. Very nice for a mini-van I must say! Anyway, we left Fargo with about four tornados on our tail, but luckily we must have been far enough ahead of it to stay out of any inclement weather. My sister Cheryl and her husband Dan have a nice new house and I even got my own room while I was there! We went to my niece Laura's dance recital on Saturday. Laura and her group did a great job as did most of the groups but it did get a little long... 37 dances with a 15 min intermission... Yikes! Sunday we celebrated my niece Sarah's birthday she is now 12! I can't believe she is getting so old! It seem like just yesterday she was screaming in my arms! (very bad colic as a newborn) All in all a good weekend.

This weekend I went to my sister's house for my niece Sarah's birthday and my niece Laura's dance recital... I will report more on that later, but first I must get to my dream from Fri night/Sat morning... I was with a group of friends (not sure who they were) at a church that had been converted to a bar in LA. A singles event for famous people was going on (Not sure why I was going because A. I am not famous and B. I am not single). The crazy part is I wasn't dating Neal, I was dating Orlando Bloom. Anyway, I was sitting in one of the pews and Brad Pitt started talking to me. I kept telling him to leave me alone because I had a boyfriend and he was going to be there anytime. He wouldn't take no for an answer and kept pursuing me! And then Jennifer Anniston was there and she was pissed off. Ok so then I woke up from my dream and fell back asleep... The dream started up again but it was a prequel to my previous dream! It was me and my girlfriends deciding to go to this party and then arriving there... It was really weird I have never awakened from a dream to fall back asleep and dream the stuff prior to what already happened. There are many details I don't remember, but man was that a weird/great dream! Imagine being pursued by Brad Pitt but turning him down because you are dating Orlando Bloom!

This morning on my way into the office I noticed a black spot on the gray outside wall of our building. As I got closer it started to look furry. At first I thought it might be a baby bird that was killed in the storm last night until I saw the tiny claws clinging to the building! I thought holy shit, that is a damn bat, what the hell am I doing staring at the damn thing it might try nest in my hair! I ran up the stairs to tell the other girls in my office.... But by the time I got up there I started doubting what I actually saw. I mean really, I have never seen a bat just sitting out in the daylight clinging to a wall. The only time I have seen a bat up close that hasn't been flying around was in a darkened room at a zoo. Candace was leaving for a meeting at the time so we went out and re-investigated. And sure as shit, there is a bat on our wall outside!

This weekend was a fairly quiet one... Went to the VFW with some of the DH Crew and Danno. Man that place has inexpensive drinks! A round of beers for five people was $8.50! I recommend you check it out if you are looking for a cheap place to drink in Fargo!

Saturday I rented a couple of movies, Closer and Meet the Fockers. Meet the Fockers was ok... Not laugh out loud funny like Meet the Parents but entertaining enough. I did enjoy Closer quite a bit but then again I drank an entire bottle of wine by myself while watching it so my opinion could be skewed a bit.

Oh yeah I almost forgot (probably because it was so forgettable) I went to Amityville Horror on Saturday afternoon. The movie was just ok, didn't really scare me too much and I was even by myself! But at least Ryan Reynolds was hot enough to distract me from the mediocrity of the movie! If you feel you MUST see it I would either wait til it goes to the cheap theater or rent it.

So Heather, Leslie and I went to Red Lobster last night in celebration of their last day of finals. Of course we decided to order a couple of drinks to go along with our Seafood extravaganza. Heather and Leslie ordered margaritas and since I can't drink tequila anymore I got a mixed berry daquri. Sounds good right? Heather and Leslie got their drinks but mine was a no show. I wondered what was taking so damn long when I see this GIANT martini-shaped glass headed my way! It was so big I could hardly see our waiter! I exclaimed "HOLY SHIT" rather loudly, especially in a family restaurant, but damn that thing was huge! I wondered how I would ever drink the whole thing. Well it was so tasty not only did I finish it, I finished it while it was still frozen. So the combination of a GIANT daquiri, 30 delicious shrimp (I couldn't eat them all) , a caesar salad and those yummy cheddar bay biscuits made me one full chica. So full in fact that it was difficult for me to get up the three flights of stairs to my apartment. I got home and moaned on the couch for about an hour until my stomach decided to digest the rediculous amount of food I had consumed.

Well my prediction was right... I not only DIDN'T dominate at poker last night... I sucked. 4th place both games. I got crap cards and played them crappily too!

Neal was in town from Monday until this morning! It is always so great to see him and it makes me sad when he leaves. Hopefully he can find a job here soon! Keep your fingers crossed! While he was here he got me a new computer desk chair! I had been using a folding chair and that sucked! My new chair is awesome! Thanks Neal!

Carol King is an Alien that won't let me sleep!

Last night I started reading a new book called, you guessed it, Carol King is an Alien. I purchased this book last year at the Barnes & Noble Bargain Book Sale... I didn't have any expectations on how the book might be because the last book I tried to read from the B&N BBS was horrible! Well I ended up not being able to put it down until 2:45 am! I tried 3 times to put it away but kept giving myself the "ok, just one more chapter" rationale. So now on Cinco De Mayo I am paying the price. I guess I won't be going out and drinking Mexican cervesa tonight I will be going home to finish my book. And then I hope to take a long winters nap... Or ok a good night spring sleep.

Last night I played a little poker... Now I am certainly not as good a player as wil wheaton (wilwheaton.net check it out) or even as good as Mr. Dan Schwartz but I got some good ass cards to take me to the top of our two games! Yeah! I am $16 richer but more importantly I am the POINT LEADER for the month of May! I am sure my prediction from last night will come true because it usually does ~ I kicked ass one week and will suck for the rest of the month. So be prepared to hear me whining about how sucky I played for the next four weeks! LUCKY YOU! I guess I should actually LEARN how to play the game, maybe I will have better luck.

Do I look like a Ma'am to you?

Ok, I was walking into work this morning minding my own business when I hear, "Ma'am can you please help me?" I didn't look up initally because I thought she must be talking to someone else. I did a quick scan of the parking lot and I was the only one out there... So I looked in the direction the voice came from and a lady in a Ford Explorer was looking directly at me. She said again, "Ma'am can you help me, I am looking for the Montessori school." I went over, pointed the school out to her, smiled and walked off very dejected. I am 28 years old, do 28 year olds deserve the title Ma'am? Now I realize I have a LOT of gray hair that hasn't been dyed in quite a while, but really do I look like a Ma'am? I just went in the bathroom and took a good hard look at myself... I don't think I look like a Ma'am... But then again who wants to think she looks like a Ma'am? Can't we just force everyone to say Madame from now on? That is what Ma'am comes from isn't it? Madame sounds much more distinguished to me. I think I am going to start an email campaign for the elimination of Ma'am from our common vernacular. Ma'am just makes every woman feel old. Ok I could be overreacting here, but still it just wasn't the first thing I wanted to hear this morning, or truthfully ever in my life.

This past weekend was spent mostly at the Schwartz pad drinkin and playing poker. Normally I would be happy about doing that but this time not so much... Here are the reasons:
#1 On friday we were drinking because it was Dan's last day in the Fargo iNet office. I walked past his empty, darkened office a couple times today and my stomach just kinda sank. It just isn't the same without his headphone clad head peaking over the rediculous amount of monitors stacked up in his office. I hope he is having a good first day at his new job but we all miss him here.
#2 On Saturday I was over at the Schwartz residence again because our good friend Blakeby was in town... We did some more drinking and poker playing. It was all fun and games until later in the eveing say around 1:30 am. I was chatting on the phone with my roomate Heather and out of nowhere Dan tackled me. Now this might not have been a problem, but he tackled me and the CHAIR I was sitting in. Needless to say I have a few giant bruises on my back and leg. I was kinda stiff all day yesterday; today the bruises are throbbing. Are bruises supposed to throb? So Dan if you are reading this, THANKS!

Seriously though, it was a good weekend. Hanging out at the Schwartz's is always a good time.
